The Rev. James Whitmore Rector

The Rev. James Whitmore

Fr. Whitmore has served as rector of St. Clement’s since 2011, following a curacy at Trinity Church, Boston and a period as chaplain at Exeter Academy. He holds degrees from Yale Divinity School and Keble College, Oxford, where he studied historical theology. He is married to Dr. Katherine Whitmore, a pediatric surgeon, and they have two children. His particular interests include liturgical renewal, parish development, and the intersection of faith and public life.

The Rev. Canon Elizabeth Marsh Associate Priest & Canon for Formation

The Rev. Canon Elizabeth Marsh

Canon Marsh joined St. Clement’s in 2018 after fourteen years as chaplain at Harborview Hospital. She oversees all adult formation programs, leads the Inquirers‘ Class and confirmation preparation, and shares in the sacramental and pastoral ministries of the parish. A graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, she brings deep pastoral sensitivity and theological rigor to her work.

The Rev. John Adeyemi Transitional Deacon

The Rev. John Adeyemi

Deacon Adeyemi was ordained in 2023 and serves at St. Clement’s with particular responsibility for the Thursday outreach ministry, prison visitation, and pastoral care of the homebound. A native of Lagos, Nigeria, he previously worked in social services before discerning a call to ordained ministry. He is a candidate for the priesthood.

Mr. David Hargreaves, FRCO Director of Music

Mr. David Hargreaves, FRCO

David Hargreaves has directed the music program at St. Clement’s for twenty-two years. A Fellow of the Royal College of Organists, he trained as organ scholar at King’s College, Cambridge before positions at Coventry Cathedral and Christ Church, Greenwich. Under his direction, the choir maintains a repertoire ranging from Renaissance polyphony to contemporary American church music.
